Shift in Stuttgart and Berlin. No initial intake in Sindelfingen and end of Help Ukraine ticket.

From September 28, 2023, the situation for those arriving in Stuttgart and the surrounding areas will change significantly: The NUK Sindelfingen will become an emergency shelter for asylum seekers and will cease the intake of refugees from Ukraine. Newly arrived refugees will now have to turn to other state initial reception facilities:

  • AZ Meßstetten (Geißbühlstraße 51, 72469 Meßstetten)
  • NUK Freiburg (Basler Landstraße 16 (OBI-Areal), 79111 Freiburg)
  • LEA Karlsruhe (Durlacher Allee 100, 76137 Karlsruhe)
  • LEA Ulm (Messe Ulm, Böfinger Straße 50, 89073 Ulm)

We strongly recommend the options AZ Meßstetten or NUK Freiburg, as both currently have sufficient capacities for intake and care. However, we strongly advise against LEA Karlsruhe due to the current overall situation.

This also marks a significant change in our work as part of the Arrival Support. Until the deadline We had coordinated the travel and arrival in Stuttgart together with our partners and autonomously organized and carried out the onward journey and accompaniment to Sindelfingen. With the cessation of intake, the geographically closest initial reception facility is no longer available, and our abilities to continue supporting refugees upon arrival are also limited. From now on, we can only offer a transportation service to one of the facilities in justified exceptional cases, but we remain active in Stuttgart and are there for incoming refugees.

In addition, our Berlin partners BAS (Berlin Arrival Support) inform us that the official support at Berlin Central Station will be discontinued as of October 1, 2023. This also marks the end of the issuance of free Help Ukraine – Tickets. Refugees entering Stuttgart should plan their arrival carefully and have sufficient financial means.

In any case, we remain committed and will not leave refugees alone. Contact us if you need assistance.
